WELCOME TO AUTUMN
Autumn has truly arrived in the Highlands, as we are privileged to witness the magical landscape change from the deep greens of summer to the burnt reds and yellows of Autumn. Visitors are now looking for the changing of the leaves and the Highlands continues to see further increases in visitation in the past 3 months of the year.  The VIC recorded a 46% growth during March, over the previous year.  Talking of change, TSH has recognised that you are regularly bombarded with information from all areas.  To ensure that our communication is effective we will now restrict our communication via a bi monthly e-news.  MAKE SURE YOUR READ THESE!

FAREWELL TO PAT HALL
Well known and much respected, National Parks & Wildlife Services (NPWS) Education Liasion Manager Pat Hall, will retire from her position after 31 years dedicated service on Friday 30 April.

Many will remember Pat for her support of tourism in the Southern Highlands and her ongoing role as a member of the Tourism Southern Highlands Board.  Pat's association with tourism began back in 1979 when she was instrumental in the establishment of the original NPWS Visitor Information Centre at Fitzroy Falls (one of the first in NSW).

Promoting national parks and tourism are commitments which Pat does not take lightly and during her 31 years with NPWS, her efforts, enthusiasm and imagination have been largely responsible for the community relations policy of the NPWS and its movement into tourism territory.

Some highlights of Pat's career would include:

  • the expansion of the original VIC at Fitzroy Falls into the multi million dollar facility which we enjoy today.
  • the walks/educational program and establishment of the Discovery Ranger Program in the NPWS Nowra district.
  • the re-development of the Minnamurra Rainforest Centre.
  • the establishment of the now well known education/promtional van, which attends field days, events, shows and expos throughout the region.

The list goes on and on, but to Pat, we say thank you.  Thank you for your support of tourism and of TSH, and we wish you well in your future endeavours.

PROMOTIONS - WHAT'S EVERYONE DOING?
TSH and many of our members have been very busy with promoting their businesses and events over the past month, here is what's been happening and is about to:

Tourism NSW have been busy picking up on many of these promotions, and operators have seen further promotion through the TNSW Sydney & NSW Uncovered Media E-Newsletter for Tulip Time, Milton Park, and Brigadoon.  TNSW have also included the Vineyard Cottage at Bluemetal Vineyard on their media visit program for May, with the Sun Herald visiting this new cottage on 22-24 May.

So, if you have something special planned, not just events, but perhaps just a change to your product, then make sure you let us know so we can tell everyone!
