A NEW YEAR BEGINS
2010 has started well for the Highlands with an increase in visitation numbers being recorded at the TSH Visitor Information Centre at Mittagong.  Visitors are up 29% for the month of January compared to the same period last year and we hope that this is a sign of 'things to come' and has a multiplier effect amongst all local businesses.  Ease of access, unique product and great events, are just some of the reasons visitors continue to come into our region along with a large proportion of visitors coming for the purpose of visiting their friends and relatives over the Christmas & school holidays.  So make sure that you are actively participating in the local 'My Southern Highlands' Ambassador Rewards Program.

BENEFIT OF THE MONTH
Events continue to bring visitors into the Southern Highlands, with almost all months now boasting a major event.  Visitors like events, and in many cases they like to plan their visits around them.  The calendar of events on our TSH Website www.southern-highlands.com.au is the best way to find out what is happening and when.  So don't forget to get your events onto our site - the earlier you do it, the more exposure your event will receive.  Haven't loaded an event into the system for a while?  Then here are the instructions - it's really easy!

  • The Bundanoon Highland Gathering, better known as Brigadoon, announced this week, that Highlander, Australia's own unique Celtic Rock Band will perform at this year's event on Saturday 17 April.
  • The establishment of regular Garden Lectures are a welcome return to our Calendar of Events, with the Werai Teahouse & Nursery undertaking a full 2010 calendar of garden lectures, featuring everything from French Design to Bonsai!
  • Throughout January we've enjoyed live jazz at Joadja Vineyards, celebrated Australia Day at Bluemetal Vineyard, Eschalot Restaurant and historic Berrima.  We've also picked blackberries at the Montrose Berry Farm and seen Ronan Keating perform live at the latest A Day On The Green at Centennial Vineyards.
