Sutton Forest
Grand country estates from a former era surround the landscape of this rural village. At Sutton Forest very little has changed in the 170 years that have passed since colonial farmers and graziers discovered the luxurious pastures and expansive fields which resembled their beloved English countryside. Sutton Forest remains a luxurious spot in the Highlands characterised by an English country village, fine examples of heritage architecture, regular village markets and festivities, stands of mature deciduous trees planted by the early settlers and relatively unspoiled surrounding countryside. Remnants of a former lifestyle remain such as Mount Broughton estate, now transformed by the Peppers Hotel Group, with other buildings of interest: the All Saints Anglican and St. Patrick’s Catholic Churches, both with fascinating graveyards featuring reminders of the perilous colonial times.
