National Trust (NSW) Golden Vale composer-in-residence announces concerts in the Southern Highlands.Tim Dargaville is an award-winning composer with a national and international profile whose music is a distinctive voice in recent Australian contemporary music. Central to his creative work is a nurturing of authentic musical expression that embraces diversity and reimagines the ordinary.
The concert, to be held on 17 March at Retford Park, will see Mr Dargaville team up with Australian-based ensemble, Ironwood. Showcasing Australian compositions, both heritage and new, this program will feature the short piece for a string quartet ‘Lost Pages from the Book of Memory and Forgetting’ created for Ironwood by Tim Dargaville in 2017. This work is an innovative, creative response to the loss of his mother, Rosie, through dementia. Other works on the program have been created by Tim Dargaville during his residency at Golden Vale.
