In a program titled “Latino Love Affair”, visiting Israeli harpsichordist Michael Tsalka will be joined by Sydney harpsichordist Diana Weston and the string group Thoroughbass for a recital in St Jude’s Church Bowral on Sunday 29 April commencing at 3.00pm. The warm climate of Italian and Spanish-speaking countries is the inspiration behind Latino Love Affair. Think hot sunny days, languid evenings, sudden thunderstorms. In a mixed program from the past and present you will hear the pizzazz and energy of Pablo Escande’s Capricho; a musical episode in the life of Don Quixote in May Howlett’s Tilting at Windmills; and you will experience the sultry danger-filled nights in Buenos Aires with Piazzolla’s Fuga y misterio. In addition, an untypical concerto by Alessandro Scarlatti; and two concertos by Bach and Benda who, judging by the Italian style they have adopted so whole-heartedly, wished they had lived there.
