Tim & Patricia Copes have been sponsoring the John Copes Prize since 1997 in honour of Tim’s father John Copes, who was a watercolourist.
The John Copes Watercolour Prize was established in 2009 as a biennial after previously being a portrait prize. This prestigious event is one of the highlights of the Bowral and District Art Society calendar, and attracts a very high standard of artwork from around Australia.
Julie Simmons was the winner of the watercolour prize in 2015 with the beautiful image ‘The Boat Yard’. The winner of the people’s choice award was 15 year old ACT student Paris Lome with ‘Tibetan Noodles’.
The exhibition opening and prize announcement will take place at 6:30pm on Friday 22 September.
The exhibition will continue from 22 September to 2 October, 2017 from 10am - 4pm daily.
All welcome. This exhibition is really one to put in your calendar!
