The Supporters of a Southern Highlands Regional Gallery will present 'Plant Motifs’ an exhibition of prints from the collection by key mid to late 20th Century Australian printmakers who have been inspired by the natural world. Plants as motifs in art have been used to represent the 'civilisation' of land by westerners and also the indigenous 'wildness' of exotic places. Artists Una Foster, John Coburn, Alun Leach-Jones and Robyn Mayo have used plants as motifs in their artworks via direct observation and synthesising their forms.
The Supporters of a Southern Highlands Regional Gallery Inc having been active since 1994 in encouraging the arts and lobbying for a Regional Gallery in the Wingecarribee Shire.
Note: This exhibition is part of the Open Gardens on the above mentioned dates – the normal entry fee will apply.
