The featured items of this concert to be presented by Kent McIntosh (tenor), Sharolyn Kimmorley (piano) and Robert Johnson (Horn) are “Auf den Strom” of Schubert and “Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Orchestra” by Benjamin Britten. Schubert's “Auf den Strom” is a beautiful and unique work written in 1828 - the last year of his short life. The Serenade is a collection of six songs set to various classic English poets on the themes of night and dusk, dark dreams and the restorative peace of sleep. This is a virtuosic piece for both horn and vocalist with many spine-tingling and exciting moments. This is a great opportunity to hear two seldom performed masterworks. The concert also includes English Art Song and G&S numbers.
Adults $25, Students $15
