In the company of resident Southern Highlands composer Ann Carr-Boyd, Thoroughbass presents The Child in Us. This is music written for children, or about children. But more than that - this is music that evokes in us, as adults, memories of our own childhood. There is the street we played cricket in (Old Mandimar Road), the beach we ran along (The Seagull and the Sea); here we imagine we are flying (Butterflying) or floating weightless on the sea (Adrift). We fight viciously with paper swords (Fuga), we play with our toys (Corner). And through it all, the childish emotions pervade – frustration, determination, confusion, joy and anger.
