Journey with local farmer and butcher, John Mauger, to get a unique insight into Maugers Meats' grassfed beef and lamb operation.
From the family farm, 'Laurel View' where John grew up, to the historical Maugers Meats Butcher Shop in Burrawang where John ran the family butchery business for over 40 years, you will have the opportunity to learn from the source about every step of where your meat comes form and how to produce the very best premium quality meat.
The three hour tour includes a short presentation on Maugers' beef and lamb production, morning tea, far tour, meat tasting (slow cooked Maugers' meat on a soft bread roll with our house made chutney or relish - a local speciality!) and beef boning demonstration - "the Art of Butchery" - at the Burrawang shop.
It's a rare thing these days to find a butcher shop that controls what happens to your meat before it turns up at the shop in a cardboard box. With a focus on the ethical treatment and handling of our animals and using traditional methods, we're sure you'll enjoy finding out all about the Maugers Meats difference!

The Milk Factory Gallery
The Art & Design Centre is situated adjacent to the main gallery and features original artworks, handmade jewellery, sculpture, glass, fine woodwork, ceramics and textiles.
The Art & Design Centre also retails art related gifts including books , gift cards, and a selection of art materials.
Three separate areas of this ninety year old building have been sympathetically restored to maintain its heritage while providing a unique space to showcase art , design.
Tapas is available all day in the fully licenced cafe which is open from 10am weekdays and 9am weekends.
The Milk Factory Gallery encompasses a floor area of over 90 square metres and with over 7 metre high ceilings this impressive space is ideal for exhibiting large works of art as well as sculpture and installations. Solo exhibitions are organised for invited artists from all areas throughout the year as well as mixed and group shows. This includes all mediums from original works to printmaking, ceramics, photography and sculpture. The Art Gallery and Exhibition Space is also available for short-term hire for exhibitions.

Drink a bit of history.
The original building had fallen into disrepair by the middle of this century, and efforts were made to preserve it. The current owners, The Durney family, have recently extensively restored and redeveloped the inn.
Their work has been recognised by the Australian Hotel Association?s Award for Excellence: Best Redeveloped Hotel ? Country, 1997 and in 2007 they won the Award for Excellence ? Best Heritage Hotel.
The Surveyor General Inn was built in 1834 for James Harper, using convict labour, and licensed as an inn in the following year. Remaining in the Harper family for almost one hundred years, The Surveyor General is the oldest continuously licensed inn in Australia. The main building, constructed of local convict-hewn sandstone and sand stock bricks, has served as both a pub and accommodation for over a century and a half.
From Cobb & Co. to today countless travellers have passed through its doors (although today, the taller may have to stoop to enter the low lintels!) ? from the Cobb & Co. passengers of last century, to the motor car travellers on the main Hume Highway south from Sydney this century, and the many visitors travelling to see the sights of historic Berrima today.
There were originally four inns at Berrima (the other original buildings still stand), but only the Surveyor General has survived as an hotel.
It was, as you can imagine, the favoured ?watering hole? for locals ? and remains so today.

We are delighted to tell the world that The Cook?s Cooking School is a Your Angel initiative established to help generate funds for the delivery of community cooking classes (for those living with disability and others in need of support), also held in The Kazcare Community Kitchen.
Led by Anna Phillips, local in-house cook / manager / presenter and food stylist, The Cook?s Cooking School is bringing Australia?s leading cooks, food editors and local producers to the Southern Highlands for a home cooking experience that is second-to-none!
All of The Cook?s Cooking School classes will be hands-on, unless otherwise stated. From Mexican Street Food, BBQ Surf and Turf, Inside the Greek Kitchen are just a few of our classes on offer.
There will be 12 places per class and we offer evening, daytime and weekend classes so that everyone can have a taste of our cooking experiences. We also offer corporate classes and group bookings for friends and families who want to have some cooking / eating fun together.
